Plans announced for visitor center at Camp Farm

Camp Farm in Maryport, Cumbria, England hopes to be the site of a world-class tourist attraction showcasing "the area’s strong Roman heritage and recent archeological finds." Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Ltd has applied for UK£10.7m to build the center.

15th century ring found in Bulgarian monastery excavation

A team of Bulgarian archaeologists are engaged in the excavation of St. Peter and St. Paul monastery in Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. One of the finds is a silver ring dating to the 15th-16th centuries. (photo)

Bury Mount wins British renovation award

In the 12th century, Bury Mound, in Northamptonshire, England, held a castle. Now the vacant mound has become the country's best renovation project for 2011.

Lead coffins found in Roman city

Two sarcophagii made of lead have been found at the site of the ancient city of Gabii in Italy. The caskets date to the 1st or 2nd century CE.

Saint Sebastian's Prize shoot at Pennsic 40

The Honorable Lady Lorelei Greenleafe reports that the Kingdom of Atlantia will sponsor the Saint Sebastian's Prize archery shoot on the middle Sunday of Pennsic 40.

Spirit of the Vikings upheld in cardboard boat

6th century Byzantine building found in Acre

Israeli archaeologists have discovered the remains of a 6th century Byzantine public building in the ancient town of Akko (Acre). The discovery is the first physical evidence found of the Christian Bishop of Akko.
