October 14-16, 2010, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, will play host to the 49th Annual Seminar on Glass. This year's topic is: Medieval Glass and Its Influence.

[ANS] Ansteorran Heraldic and Scribal Symposium

Come to the semi-regular, annual Ansteorran Heraldic and Scribal Symposium hosted by the Barony of Wiesenfeuer. Classes will teach all from non-herald/scribe to new herald/scribe to old timer. Invitations are being extended to our Calontir, Outlands, and Gleann Abhann neighbors as well. Come and learn and renew acquaintances.

Birch bark manuscripts found in Novgarod

A school girl taking part in a dig in Novgorod, Russia has discovered two birch bark manuscripts and a medieval seal.

CSI: Middle Ages

The corpse was identified as royalty. Bones found in the Magdeburg Cathedral in 2008 proved to be those of a granddaughter of Alfred the Great: the Saxon Queen Eadgyth, the who died in the 10th century at the age of 36.

In a ceremony that dates back to the Middle Ages, 48-year-old chartered accountant Steve Williams was named London's official ale taster.

Titus Scipio Germanicus new Crown Prince of the West

University of California recipient of large donation of medieval books

An anonymous donor has given to the University of California, Riverside, a book and manuscript collection oriented toward medieval history and valued at almost US$100K.

Paul Halsall of Fordham University has created a website to highlight the medieval treasures of New York City from its architecture to its art and music.

Known World Players Announce Production of Euripides' Medea at Pennsic 39

The Known World Players company, whose motto is “Period plays in a period manner,” will mount its final production, Medea, at Pennsic 39. The performance will take place August 13 at 8 pm in the Performing Arts Pavilion.

A request from Archaeological Survey of India for the British government to return Indian objects removed from the country during British colonial rule has been refused, according to the Times of India.

White Horse painted purple by vandals

Members of two groups that urge UK courts to take greater notice of divorced fathers' rights denied vandalizing the White Horse of Uffington with purple paint.

Rochester window "exciting find"

Graham Keevil believes the discovery of a 14th century window "punched through" an older Roman wall beneath Rochester Cathedral in Kent, England may be "one of his three most exciting finds."
