A newcomer's view of Slay the Hydra

Thomas Willoughby of the Kingdom of Gleann Abhann, loaned his camera to a new fighter of his acquaintance who was attending his first event, Slay the Hydra, with the instruction, "take a picture of ANYTHING that he found interesting." The results can be seen in an album of photos posted on Flickr.
Translations of classic fencing texts released

Richard, from the Kingdom of Lochac, reports that two classic fencing manuals are now available for study. A new translation by Ken Mondschein of Camillo Agrippa's manual of 1553, the earliest Italian rapier text, is available for purchase, while the English translation of Ettenhard's manual from 1675 can be read online.

The St. Albans Psalter to be displayed in Germany

The St. Albans Psalter, one of the world's best examples of manuscripts from the Romanesque period, is a cherished possession of the the Dombibliothek Hildesheim in Hildesheim, Germany. The removal of its binding has enabled the Dom-Museum Hildesheim to display individual leaves from the book in a special exhibit which will run December 9, 2009 until January 24, 2010. (photos)

"Zombies" attack Gleann Abhann Royals

The recent Coronation of William II and Onora II was not without incident as Their Majesties' retinue was overcome with a fit of zombie-ism. The frightening event was chronicled by Kingdom Historian Baroness Barbara Sterling in a missive to Baroness Morgana of the Mists.

In 1864, the Imperal Library of Russia acquired the "collection of ancient Kufic Qur'ans on parchment bought from Mme Desnoyer, heiress of Arabist Marcel who was among the members of the learned French expedition to Egypt equipped by Bonapart," a magnificent set of about 2000 parchment leaves in Arabic, illuminated in full color and gold.
