Dig shows Irish monks strove to be "green"

Archaeologists working on a dig at the Cistercian Bective Abbey in Co Meath, Ireland believe they have evidence of the country's first environmentalists. The abbey monks, dependent on handouts from their neighbors, worked hard to become as self sufficient as possible.

The weekend of September 25-27, the shire of Gryphon's Mark will be hosting A Day at the Faire. Merchants will be an integral part of this event. Because of this, they will be placed in the center of activities. Just like a real fair! We need merchants of any size - blanket merchants as - well as larger ones!

[WES] Rivenoak Championship Tourney

Gwen & Lori, Coronets of Rivenoak invite you to Tournament to determine their champion. There will be both a heavy armored and rapier champion, as well as a boffer tourney to determine the Junior Champion (two age groups). As we in Rivenoak are a little "different," the tourney will be run a little "different" (expect other than double elimination). Also, as we in Rivenoak are also known as "gameplayers", there will be several game tournaments to choose from, or bring your own, and challenge us with your favorite. We are taking applications for any that want to sponsor a game competition. Contact the autocrat if interested.

Please come bear witness as new Heirs are chosen to sit the thrones of the West. As an experiment, people will be able to reserve space on the list field in advance. If you are assigned space on the list field, you have agreed to provide a buffet table with food (think snacks) for 40 people for the parties Their Majesties hope to see this happening on the list field Saturday evening. (Drinks are optional…) Their Majesties will provide prizes for the three best tables.

AEthelmearc Royals create four new Peers at Pennsic XXXVIII

Brandubh O'Donnghaile, Silver Buccle Herald, with the assistance of THLord Pearce Redsmythe and Lady Sophie Davenport, report that Their Majesties Maynard and Liadain, King and Queen of Aethelmearc, turned Their hands to the creation of several new Peers at the recent Pennsic War XXXVIII.

Invergarry Castle in the Highlands of Scotland is a ruin. It was burned by Cromwell and later ransacked by English soldiers, but it now has a new virtual life in the online world of Second Life.
