The coronation of Eikbrandr and Runa as King and Queen of the Middle Kingdom took place May 2, 2009, at the beautiful cathedral of Central Catholic High School in the Barony of Cleftlands. A teacher from the school, and SCAtoday.net's Justinos Tekton, both have published photo albums from the event.

Digital Maciejowski Bible online

The Medieval Tymes website is hosting a digitized copy of the Maciejowski Bible, a 13th century manuscript commissioned by King Louis IX (Saint Louis) of France and executed by unknown scribes.

New Heirs in Lochac

On May 2nd in the Shire of Darton (Wellington, New Zealand), Sir Gabriel de Beaumont bested 13 other combatants to make himself and his lady, Mistress Constanzia Moralez y de Zamora, the Royal Heirs of Lochac.

Siegfried and Elizabeth new Heirs to the Throne of Northshield

Baroness Kateryn of Cornwall, from Caer Anterth Mawr in the Kingdom of Northshield, reports that Duke Sir Siegfried Von Kulmbach, inspired by Lady Elizabeth of Bright Sand, was the winner of the May 9, 2009 Crown Tourney in that Kingdom.

Count Sir Henri d'Artois wins AEthelmearc Crown

On Saturday May 9th, Count Sir Henri d'Artois, fighting for Lady Elina d'Artois du Tailleur, emerged victorious in the 25th Crown Tournament of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc.

Konrad and Brenwen Heirs to the Tyger Throne

Baron Rowen Cloteworthy, Brigantia Principal Herald, reports that Graf Konrad Von Ulm, inspired by Countess Brenwen the Faire, was victorious in the Eastern Crown Lists held May 9, 2009. Graf Konrad defeated Duke Lucan von Drachenklaue, who was fighting for Duchess Jana Von Drachenklaue, in a well fought contest of sword and shield.

Duke Boru Aelwyn wins Meridian Crown List

Saturday May 2, 2009, Duke Boru Aelwyn won the Spring 2009 Spring Crown List in the Kingdom of Meridies for the honor of his lady wife, Duchess Dierdre inghean uí Thighearnáin.

Mounted archery on Mythbusters May 13, 2009

On the May 13, 2009 episode of the popular science show Mythbusters, the crew will try to prove the veracity of mounted archery. The episode Exploding Bumper premieres at 9:00 p.m. EDT and repeats at midnight.

Mystery and adventure in Darkhold

In the year 1278, Llewelyn ap Grufudd (Llewelyn the Last) pays homage to King Edward I. He is finally allowed to marry Elinor, daughter of Simon de Montfort. King Edward claims northern Ceredigion and begins building a string of strong castles at Aberystwyth, Flint, Rhuddlan, and Builth to enforce his presence in Wales.

Liturgical manuscripts and medieval miniatures at the Free Library of Philadelphia

The Rare Book Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia is the setting for an exhibition of liturgical music manuscripts dating from the 10th through 16th centuries. Cantate Domino: Medieval Music Manuscripts in the Free Library of Philadelphia, 900-1500 will be open until June 26, 2009.

Swedish parking marker found to be runestone

Rainy weather, washing mud from a parking lot marker in Sweden, brought about a near "religious experience" for Stockholm County Museum runic expert Lars Andersson, who was able to identify marks on the stone as runes.

The year is 1203. Crusading zeal is at its height, but the Muslims still control the Holy Land. From the Purple Palace in Constantinople reigns Emperor Alexius III, heir to the once-mighty Roman Empire. Eight centuries later, the year is 2009. Come recreate one of the greatest sieges in history. Constantinople may have fallen during the Fourth Crusade, but this time the Byzantines have one thing that they lacked in 1203-Haus Von Drachenklaue!

Calontir woman "pushes boundaries" with her pottery

Cindy Morley enjoys pushing the boundaries with her pottery, which includes "mugs with scales, double-walled vessels that fold upon themselves to create elegant inverted pyramids." The Fayetteville, Arkansas woman's work will be on display at the University of Arkansas' Center for Continuing Education until June 30, 2009. Becca Bacon Martin of the Morning News has the story.
