Once you have registered your arms in the SCA, what should you do with them? Herald Coblaith Muimnech took this concept as a challenge and researched "50 ways to use your arms." He hopes to inspire others to use their heraldry more freely.

An archaeological team working near Salqin, Syria have discovered a large painting dating to the Byzantine era. The work depicts a large peacock (a symbol of the early church), two pomegranates, a small bird and olive trees. (photo)

In the last exhibit of a series on emperors, the British Museum will present Moctezuma: Aztec Ruler which reveals elements of the mysterious life of the last emperor of the Aztecs. The exhibition will run 24 September 2009 to 24 January 2010. (photos)

Single illuminated pages from medieval manuscripts often end up as single exhibits in museums, or worse, stuck in a drawer, unviewed and unappreciated, but a new exhibit Heaven on Earth: Manuscript Illuminations From the National Gallery of Art showcases these single pieces as the gems they are. The bomb squad was recently called to a pub in Shoreditch, east London when workers from the water company discovered a suspicious object. Such an evacuation is not an unusual occurrence in today's terrorist-conscious world, but these workers must not have been fans of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The shire of Castelleone Nuovo (Helena, MT) will be hosting a regional fighter's practice at Memorial Park on Sunday, May 24, 2009. In preparation for Uprising, we will be focusing on melees, but there'll be plenty of time for one-on-one work too.

A call resounds through the forests and hills of our beloved homeland unto the bravest and boldest warriors of the north! The time has arrived once again to select a new Captain of Winter's Gate. We will have a double elimination hold the field Chivalric and Rapier tournament. There will be a challenging Archery Hunt. Also, an A&S and Bardic competition you won't want to miss.
