Shire Lagerdamm's Newbie Collegium "Renaissance Spectacular: Life in the Tudor Court") is on the horizon and so far it looks as though there will be a pretty full Saturday with something for everyone to enjoy. Bring your friends (especially your non-SCA friends!) and spend a day of revelry with us in all the style and glamour of the Tudor court.

The lord Baron shall be there to welcome all and sundry to this demesne, but especially those who wish to share their and display their myriad workes.

In Arn Hold, we hold a masked ball sometime after Christmas and before Shrove Tuesday. Since this habit is the same as that in Venice, we have adopted that as this year's theme: Carnival in Venice or in the Venetian dialect, Carnevale di Venezia!.

Last year we celebrated the long weekend in January by roasting a sheep, learning how to prepare chickens for the pot, camping, fighting, feasting in the open, enjoying meals cooked over an open fire, shooting with our bows and taking the children on pony rides!

Boat timbers dating to 1100 have been discovered at Loch na h-Àirde, Scotland, leading experts to believe that the loch was "almost certainly the focus of crucial maritime work, whether boat building, repair and maintenance or as an inland harbour."
