On the West Kingdom list, it was reported that Leohtulf of the Silver Hills defeated Loy Schiemann der Klein in the finals of the recent Coronet Tournament in the Principality of the Mists. Leohtulf was inspired by Gillian Trenowyth. (video)

Hrólfr has posted a report from Gwen on Legio Draconis that Sir Thomas Blackmoore defeated Sir Mordan Peresenchenev in the final round of the October 10, 2009 Crown Tournament in the Kingdom of Meridies. Thomas was inspired byu Elisenda.

Blade Society offers combat training at the University of Southern Maine

Sullivan Gym is a place for students of the University of Southern Maine to lift weights, play basketball, or sometimes practice medieval warfare through a program offered by the Blade Society, a student-run organization affiliated with the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Minnesota professor to receive grant for medieval globalization research

University of Minnesota professor Susan Noakes has received a US$70,000 grant for two years for a project entitled “Globalization of the Middle Ages.” The research will be funded by the university's Imagine Fund.

New studies of the recent discovery of 51 decapitated skeletons found in an old quarry at Ridgeway Hill, near Weymouth, England, may show that the young men were captured Viking raiders who were executed and buried in a mass grave.

Tournament of the Phoenix to draw international jousters

For the third straight year, jousters from around the world will gather for the Tournament of the Phoenix, a weekend-long event to be held October 23-25, 2009 in Poway California. The event is being held in conjunction with the Festival of History, a living history event featuring re-enactors from Roman times to the Renaissance.
