The armored tournament is Damsel in Distress, the rapier tournament is save the Damsel from the mystical creatures and the highland games will include the caber toss, the hammer toss and others surprises. Location:

Reconstructing History, a company that provides patterns for historical costumes, has added several patterns for late period Ottoman garb.

Vikings not driven from Canada by the Thule

New research shows that Viking settlers in Newfoundland were not driven from the country by the native Thule, a native ancestor of the Inuits. Scientific re-dating has placed the native tribes in the area 150 years after the Viking settlements.

Vik & Inga Heirs in An Tir

Duchess Angharad Bandaspus Drakenhefd reports a successful end to An Tir's Crown Tournament, which was held 8/31/08. HE Viscount Sir Vik Vikingsson and HE Viscountess Inga the Unfettered, Baroness Borealis, were victorious in a list topping 100 fighters.

Royal books to be displayed in London

Over 100 illustrated books, previously owned by British monarchs, will go on display at the British Library in 2011. The manuscript exhibition will include "medieval and Renaissance books and other literary artefacts."
