Escape to the Current Middle Ages with the Society for Creative Anachronism and the Shire of Rokeclif as they celebrate fourteen years of hosting their signature Autumn Rose event. See the Arts of War (armored combat, fencing and archery) side-by-side of with the Arts of Peace (medieval crafts and demonstrations).

Not everyone goes to Pennsic! SCA members in Wisconsin who did not attend the War gathered recently in Marshfield to trade blows, practice their skills and have a relaxing day of fun. Reporter Adam Rodewald of the Marshfield News-Herald visited the event.

New research by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage in Malta may show that the island was a center of the wine trade in the 3rd-4th century BCE. The archaeologists are currently mapping wine production sites and will present their findings in Rome this fall.

New research on the sinking of the Tudor ship The Mary Rose speculates that the ship may have been lost due to the lack of English language skills by the mostly Spanish crew. The time has come to seek kith and kin in the Northlands! Please join us on our journey on Saturday, September 13, 2008 as we trek to the vast wilds of the north and visit our kindred souls in the village known to us as Batesville.
Around 2, at the park by the river, there will be a practice for the fighters. A place has also been reserved for A&S classes. Graciously, Lord Strazhek has agreed to teach a class on boot making.
