Italian Renaissance garb exhibit in Washington, D.C. until July 31, 2008

The Italian Culture Institute in Washington will present Splendors of the Renaissance: Princely Attire in Italy until July 31, 2008. The exhibit is open by appointment only and I.D. is required.

SCA family needs help

SCA member and bard Joe Bethancourt of the Kingdom of Atenveldt reports that four-year-old Avery Lubrecht, the daughter of an SCA fighter, is now fighting for her life. The little girl has Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES), a life-threatening disease that requires extensive medical treatment. You can help.

Pompeii declared in a "state of emergency"

For the next year, the ancient city of Pompeii will exist in a "state of emergency" while Italian experts strive to save the historic ruins which suffer from "lack of investment, mismanagement, litter and looting."
