Musketeer expert Odile Bordaz believes she has discovered the final resting place of Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan, made famous in Alexandre Dumas’s novel The Three Musketeers, who died during the Siege of Maastricht in the Netherlands in 1673.

The Cistercians in Yorkshire Project, a UK£50 million UK-wide digitalization program, is "designed to enable the learning materials and resources currently contained in galleries, communities, libraries, museums, universities and other centres of excellence, to be directly accessible to homes and communities via the internet."

A cache of 1st century gold and silver coins was found recently by a metal detectorist near the city of Maastricht, Netherlands. The mix of Germanic and Celtic coins. The Celtic treasure is believed to have been minted by a tribe called the Eburones.

Kubb, "a modern imitation of an old Viking game," is a combination of chess, horseshoes and bowling. It was also the focus of the October 26 Kubb 2008 Championship of the Carolinas in Salisbury, NC. Brent Johnson of the Salisbury Post was there to catch the action.

The Shire of Darton invites you to attend May Crown in Darton - Again! Enjoy a weekend of festivities centred around our finest fighters competing for their consorts to be the next Crown of Lochac.
Relax in our tavern on Friday night, watch the pageantry and chivalry of a crown tournament followed by a fabulous feast on the Saturday, and then on Sunday enjoy the spectacle of a rapier tourney.

There will be a Southern Regional Fighter Practice at the Johnson Elementary School in Bridgeport, WV on Sunday December 7th from 2-6 PM. Our Southern Region Commander Sir Alonzio and others are coming down from Pittsburgh to provide training in spear and unit tactics.
It also gives us a chance to work with each other that we don't normally get except in the thick of things at an event.

The art of hedge-laying pre-dates Roman Britain, a fact documented by Julius Caesar who wrote in 55 BCE, "It was fashioned of slender trees, bent over so that many branches came out along the length...so that it could not be penetrated or even seen through." Modern life has been hard on the hedges, but new interest may save the ancient craft.

Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania will host an Undergraduate Conference in Medieval and Early Modern Studies December 6, 2008. Let the word go forth that the Shire of Sterlynge Vayle will be hosting a Sterlynge Schola on January 17, 2009 at the Trinity Memorial Church, 44 Main St., Binghamton NY.

Hello! Once again the Shire of Drakenmere presents its homage to love at our fourth Jour d'Amour, this year with a focus on Persian Romance. As part of the festivities we will host the third Iron Garb competition!
In the Iron Garb competition, teams of up to four people compete to create
