Tapestry map shows Midlands of Shakespeare's time

A huge (4 feet x 6 feet, or 122 x 183 cm) 16th century tapestry map has returned to Oxford's Bodleian Library where it will be placed on display. The map was one of four such maps and was long thought to be lost. The Bodleian now owns three with the fourth in the Warwickshire Museum.

The remains of four adults dating to the 1st century have been discovered in Staverton near Trowbridge, England. The area is known to locals as the Blacklands and is said to be haunted. (photo of Roman coin)

Archaeologists have discovered a Roman street dating to the 2nd-4th centuries in the Western Wall tunnels of the city of Jerusalem. The side street is believed to have connected two major roads near Temple Mount.

It is that time of year again for the Barony of Iron Bog's last big push for the Toys for Tots campaign.
This Saturday, Dec 1st., we will gather in Pemberton, NJ for your annual
Toys for Tots Tourney.
The entrance fee for the day is one new unwrapped toy.
There will be both a heavy tourney and our baronial fencing championship.
The heavy tourney will be a double elimination feat with the combatants able

State seals, dating to the first Bulgarian Empire (681-1018), were discovered recently during excavation for public buildings. The seals are believed to have belonged to the rulers Simeon and Petar.
