The remains of a late Roman-Byzantine-era synagogue have been discovered in the Arbel National Park near the Sea of Galilee. The building is thought to date from the 2nd to 4th century C.E.

A well-preserved ship dating to the 17th century has been discovered in the icy waters of the Baltic Sea. The ship is believed to have been a Dutch merchant vessel.

Archaeologists working on a dig in southern Telfair County, Georgia, believed they were looking for a 17th century Spanish mission. Instead they found something even more interesting: evidence of Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto's 1540 travels through the state.

Researchers working on discovering information about the medieval ship found buried in the banks of the River Usk in Wales may be closer to identifying the ship. The 15th century ship is currently being cleaned and restored with money from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Newport City Council.

Oriented east to west instead of north to south, the Tabula Peutingeriana, a seven-meter-long parchment scroll, records the network of roads of the late Roman Empire. From Spain to India, the map elongates the continents and reduces the Mediterranean Sea to a squiggle, but is the earliest known map of Roman roads.

A website chronicling the treasure roll of Richard II, compiled in the late 14th century, "offers a rare insight into the magnificence of a late medieval English king." The site includes photos of many of the treasures listed in the Roll.
