Laurels' Field Day

We wish to invite you to join us in Namron for a day of Arts & Sciences classes on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Many of these classes will be taught by the very knowledgeable Northern Laurels, and will include a series on bardic arts, metal working, various fiber arts, garb construction, and Middle Eastern dancing.

SCA member honored for modern-world bravery in fire rescue

James Rosse II, known in the SCA as Lord James "Hawk" Galloway, has been named 2007 EMS Provider of the Year by the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, in honor of his rescue of a child trapped in debris after a house explosion and fire.

Barony of Atenveldt celebrates 38th anniversary

"Introduced to Phoenix in 1969 by Rick Cook and Mike Reynolds, Atenveldt became the first barony recognized by the SCA," writes Sadie Joe Smokey in a recent article for the Arizona Republic. Cook, who was also Atenveldt's first king, was on hand to share in the celebration.

Baronial Hunt

The rich hunting fields of Politarchopolis have remained untouched for over a year. Baronial huntsmen report an abundance of game feeding off the fertile fields and pastures. Such abundance has also brought poachers and larger wildlife to the forests of Politarchopolis. Therefore, to lessen the ravages upon our harvest by animals and thieves alike, let it be known that the Baron and Baroness of Politarchopolis invite one and all to the Hunt. Location:

Our good Sheriff has begun to receive reports of a most disturbing nature. Several of the Ladies of our Barony have gone missing as of late and he is fairly certain who is to blame. It would seem The Mighty Dragon of Tir Ysgithr has set his wings of revenge in motion and has begun to kidnap the good Damsels of our faire Barony. Known World Children's Fete at Pennsic 36

Once again, the Kingdom of Atlantia will host the Known World Children's Fete at Pennsic. This year the event will take place on Wednesday August 8 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed!

Desiderio's sculpture featured in new exhibit at the National Gallery

"Desiderio da Settignano: Sculptor of Renaissance Florence" will be on display at the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, DC, through October 8.

SCA draws crowds at Cloudcroft Ren Faire

Over 5,000 braved possible rain showers recently to attend the Renaissance Faire in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, which included demos by the local SCA group and by the Kingdom of Dragonspine (Amtgard). Karl Anderson of the Alamogordo Daily News had the story.

Voyage of the Sea Stallion

On July 1, 2007, a crew of 65 men and women set sail from Denmark to Dublin on a reconstructed Viking warship called the Sea Stallion. The project's goal was to recreate the journey of the Viking raiding parties.

Inter College War has been cancelled or postponed

Blod, on behalf of the College of Blessed Herman, reports that the upcoming Inter College War in the Kingdom of Lochac, scheduled for July 12-15, 2007, has been cancelled.

Historic church to open its doors for charity tour

St Mary and St Eanswythe Church, built in 1128 in Folkestone, England, will open its doors for a tour to raise money for repairs. Registration is required for the tour which will take place July 9 at 11:00 am.

San Francisco to hold Mongolian festival

The Mongolian Naadam Festival will take place July 14, 2007 in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The event will feature archery, wrestling and a folk concert.

Regional Fighter Practice

The Shire of Crimson River will be holding a regional fighter practice and potluck on Saturday, July 14th, 2007. We will begin around 10:00 and keep going until everyone gets tired or it gets too dark.

Bring a dish if you want to. Leave a donation if you want to. Either way, nothing is required except that you come and enjoy our hospitality.

There will be fighting of course. We will also be working on some heraldry basics. Location:
