As Clerk of Works for London Tower, Geoffrey Chaucer oversaw the construction of a 14th-century wharf which was recently re-discovered along with 15th-century stone cellars and 16th-century majolica.

The Middle Kingdom Grete Boke, a culmination of the efforts of many scribes and artisans over several years, is now displayed online.

English grocery store pamphlet features historic recipes

Jepa Kajepa reports that an English grocery store has produced a 12-page pamphlet which includes modern redactions of medieval recipes. The document is available online in PDF format.

Gregory Blount has announced the publication of the online resource The Union Catalog of Pre-1600 Books Online, a list of digitized out-of-copyright books, many of which are relevant to the SCA.

Kingdom of Terre Nueve youth subject of documentary

14-year-old Colin Taylor, a member of the Kingdom of Terre Nueve (Adrian Empire) reenactment group, is the subject of a documentary film by Destin Cretton. The film, Drakmar: A Vassal's Journey was made for $200 and will debut on HBO June 17, 2007

Fighters face obstacles in Springfield, Missouri parks

Lost Caravan

Crowds cheer fighters at Dragon's Laire's Medieval Faire

5,000 spectators and over 1,000 SCA members met recently at the annual Medieval Faire hosted by the Barony of Dragon's Laire in Port Gamble, Washington for a weekend of combat, fencing, archery and equestrian exhibitions designed to showcase medieval skills. Annie Tietje of the North Kitsap Herald covered the event.

Interview with historian Natalie Zemon Davis

Medievalists.net features an interview with Dr. Natalie Zemon Davis, Professor Emeritus of History at Princeton University, who currently teaches at the University of Toronto. Davis is the author of nine books and more than 80 articles, "many of which focus on the social and cultural history of 16th century France.
