Summer Revel (Mid-Summer Feast)

My Lords and Ladies, the good people of Fendrake Marsh invite you, one and all, to join our fair shire, for a night of feasting and frivolity. Feast will be served at 5pm (please adjust for SCA time differential). Menu includes; Salad, butters, fruits, cheese, rotisseried chicken, saffron rice, spiced pear stew, roast beef, seasoned cauliflower, stuffed eggs, gingerbread, and fine cakes.

Brass Ring Thing VII

description:
Once again, good gentles, do we invite all that is good and great from these Sylvan Lands to celebrate the medieval origins of the carousel and to give aide to the good gentles of the Herschell Carousel Museum. As always, this is a FREE event to all SCAdians who attend in garb and troll in. The day will be full of entertainment, pageantry, arts, games, food and tournaments in Heavy Weapons, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Fencing and, yes, Equestrian. Period dogs under their owner’s control, are welcome. Location:

Exhibit of 16th & 17th century art celebrates 400th anniversary of Jamestown

"Rule Britannia: Art, Royalty, & Power in the Age of Jamestown" -- featuring the "Armada" portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, never before been exhibited in the U.S. -- will be on display at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, through August 12.

June Faire XXV

SCA sued in aftermath of Schragger case

A Philadelphia television station reports that the Society for Creative Anachronism has been named in a federal lawsuit for failing to safeguard children in a case stemming from the trial of Benjamin Schragger.

Duncan and Ilish new heirs to AEthelmearc

Posted by Hrólfr on the Legio Draconis website are the results of the May 5, 2007 Crown Tournament in the Kingdom of AEthelmearc. The winner was THL Duncan Von Halstern, inspired by Baroness Ilish O'Donavan.

First time "Cut and Thrust" in Northshield

Lord Julio reports that a Northshield "first" took place recently at Provost Challenge when he and Master Kevin made use of "Cut and Thrust" during a rapier tournament. Toshikage explains the technique.

El Segundo Middle School students learn by doing

Students at El Segundo Middle School in California got a chance to see just how things were done in the Middle Ages recently when members of the Barony of Lyondemere, in the Kingdom of Caid, paid them a visit. Paul Clinton and Shelly Leachman of the Daily Breeze covered the story.

Rowany Baronial Succession

16th Century Gun Powder Flask-Sundial Compass Watch

The "Swiss-Army-knife" of its time, a gunpowder flask/sundial compass watch is featured in a watch enthusiasts' blog complete with a large, detailed photo. The object was created in Germany around 1590.

Gladiators' graveyard discovered

Scientists believe they have, for the first time, identified an ancient graveyard for gladiators. Analysis of the remains, found in Ephesus (in present-day Turkey), gives new insight into how they lived, fought, and died.

SCA joins Harry Potter group for Red Nose charity event

Pennsic pre-registration deadline approaches

The deadline for pre-registering for Pennsic 36 is rapidly approaching. Those wishing to camp with any particular group at Pennsic will need to pre-register soon.

Mists Spring Investiture
