4th century Roman remains discovered in Croatia

Roman remains and artifacts were discovered recently in Vinkovci during excavations to construct a new sports hall including a fibula, a Roman ornamental clip, dating to the 4th century C.E.

Brass Ring Thing VII

Once again, good gentles, do we invite all that is good and great from these Sylvan Lands to celebrate the medieval origins of the carousel and to give aide to the good gentles of the Herschell Carousel Museum. As always, this is a FREE event to all SCAdians who attend in garb and troll in. The day will be full of entertainment, pageantry, arts, games, food and tournaments in Heavy Weapons, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Fencing and, yes, Equestrian. Exhibit of 16th & 17th century art celebrates 400th anniversary of Jamestown

"Rule Britannia: Art, Royalty, & Power in the Age of Jamestown" -- featuring the "Armada" portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, never before been exhibited in the U.S. -- will be on display at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, through August 12.

SCA sued in aftermath of Schragger case

A Philadelphia television station reports that the Society for Creative Anachronism has been named in a federal lawsuit for failing to safeguard children in a case stemming from the trial of Benjamin Schragger.
