Rapier Practicum

description:
The Starkhafn School of Defense will be offering a Rapier Practicum on March 31 and April 1, 2007 in Starkhafn. The Practicum will be held at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Lorenzi Park, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89107. The site will open at 8:00 Saturday morning and close at 5:00, followed immediately by a Social evening at the Museum. The site will open again at 8:00 on Sunday morning, with classes running until 2:00. Instructors will be drawn from Caid, Artemisia and Atenveldt, as well as the West, the Midrealm and An Tir. Outlands Spring Crown Tournament

Their Majesties have honored the Barony of al-Barran by allowing us to host the spring crown tournament. It will be a glorious day for one and all.

Tournament of the White Hart

description:
The Shire of Port Oasis invites all lovers and fighters to the 11th annual Tournament of the White Hart, February 23 -25, 2007, at the Cabell County 4-H Camp (6040 Booten Creek Road, Barboursville, WV, 25504). The event will feature the traditional heavy weapons tournament emphasizing love and chivalry. Other activities of the day will include fencing, an Arts and Sciences competition, children’s activities, and more. Location:

Bergental Novice Schola

description:
New to the Society? Or not so new but want to learn new things? Then come to Bergental's 6th Novice Schola! This year we'll have classes during the day and celebrating our sweet 16th anniversary as a barony with a sideboard for dinner and the floor open for an evening of dancing (not to worry, there will be dance lessons during the day!).

The class schedule will feature introductory classes in sewing, embroidery, personas, dancing, and more. Classes run from 10am to 5pm. Please note that the event site opens at 9am, so that gentles will have time to sign in and look at the class schedule before they start. Location:

400-year-old seeds help tell Jamestown story

The recent discovery of some 400-year-old seeds in a well at the Colonial Jamestown archaeological site has given researchers much to ponder about the life and survival skills of the early Jamestown settlers.

Midwinter's Dance

Warwick Consort to perform in St. Paul

On Tuesday February 6, 2007, the Warwick Consort will present a concert of renaissance music at Olivet Congregational Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The concert will also feature the Terpsichory Courtly Dance Troupe.

A knight to remember

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports from the Linn County Fair & Expo Center, where 750 Boy Scouts attended the 13th annual Calapooia District Cub Scout Lock-in, where several members of the SCA participated in medieval-themed activities.

Among the manuscripts digitized and included in the collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia, are a set depicting the Genealogy of Edward IV.

Selviergard Mid-Winter Collegium

Join the Barony of Selviergard as we host our second Baronial Collegium. Hot beverages will be provided. There will be an hour and one-half set aside for a brown bag lunch in the middle of the day. No food will be provided, so please bring your own!

Northern Shores Regional Practice

description:
The Northern Shores invites one and all to its annual Regional Practice. This event features melee practices and singles pick-ups for both rattan fighters and fencers. There will be a large day board set up with both drink and food throughout the day. As well there will be classrooms available for those wishing to work on A&S projects. The event takes place in a drill shed (H-104) at the Canadian Forces Garrison St. Jean. Location:

New Medieval Views of Stonehenge

This new view of Stonehenge is a tiny Medieval drawing in the "scala mundi" or "world ladder" on a chart which chronicles Creation. While not the oldest image of Stonehenge, it one of only a few known to exist.

The well-preserved, frozen remains of a 2,000-year-old Russian warrior, found recently in the Altai mountains region of Russia, have archaeologists excited.

THL Wynne of Atenveldt has announced a radio/internet show of music related to SCA activities. "For those of us who can listen to the radio at work, and even better if you have the internet, Phoenix College has acquired an internet radio license and yours truly has procured an hour for music."
