Sir Steven MacEanruig, founding member of the SCA, enters halls of Valhalla

Steve Henderson, known in the SCA as Sir Steven MacEanruig, was at the backyard party in 1966 that was the genesis of the Society for Creative Anachronism. On March 8, 2006, Sir Steven left us for the next world.

Viking Village Demo V

Calling all Vikings (and neighbors of Vikings)! It's time once again to set up our Viking Village at the Annual Jamestown Scandinavian Folk Festival. We would love to have as many people as possible join us in this celebration of all things Viking.

March Collegium

Join the Barony of Selviergard as we host our first Spring Collegium. We will have visiting teachers from the Kingdom of the Outlands. Hot beverages will be provided. There will be an hour and one-half set aside for a brown bag lunch in the middle of the day. No food will be provided, so please bring your own!

House Golden Oak Winner of Estrella Siege Cookoff

A team of cooks from House Golden Oak won the siege cooking contest at Estrella War XXII. They reportedly also went on to roast a whole pig - on site - for a feast for Their Majesties of the Outlands Sunday evening.

Archaeological Survey of Royal Mile to be Conducted

Radar technology will be used to aid archaeological work on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Researchers hope to discover such historical buildings as Edinburgh's Tollbooth and Tyne Gaol.

Medieval Ship had Lucky Coin

A silver French coin, inscribed in Latin, has been discovered in the keel of the medieval ship found in Newport. Researchers believe this proves that the ship was French in origin.

Instructors Sought for Known World Academy of Rapier

The Kingdom of Caid will be hosting the 2006 Known World Academy of the Rapier (KWAR) on September 8th through 10th, 2006. The event is being held at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) Marriot in Los Angeles, CA. (Correction)

Germanic Weapons Found in Czech Town

A treasure trove of Germanic weapons dating to the 2nd century C.E. have been discovered near the Bohemian town of Chomutov. The 22 rusty iron shield handles and sword tips were discovered by a hiker who found them "uncovered in a quiet grove."

Bela and Claudia New Outlands Heirs

Her Excellency, Mistress Nadrah of the Kingdom of the Outlands reports that Count Sir Bela Kos defeated Count Sir Hakon af Jorvik in the finals of the Spring 2006 Crown Tourney.
