15th century, including King Rene of Anjou's Book of Love and The Book of the Tourney.

"It is a well known fact that people from so called barbaric tribes like the German tribes up north, were recruited into the Roman legions." Now, new finds in Norway demonstrate that the northern lands had closer ties to the Roman Empire than previously believed.

Wild is the winter, but waiting is worse;
How far afield are my folk?
I seek sturdy strikes of sword upon shield,
A test of the mightiest of men.
Let them exhaust their excellent power
And feast on the fruit of the farm.
Odin's hall boasts less bounty than that
Which towers tall over our tables.
I want for the word-hoard wielded by skalds
That honor the hardiest heroes.

As winter continues to tighten its grip on the mountain ranges of Gryphon's Lair, we gather together to end the season of winter festivities, and share good wishes with our friends and companions. Gryphon's Lair opens it gates once again to share its wealth and bounty at a joyous Twelfth Night celebration on January 6.
We will endeavor to explore and experience the varied traditions surrounding this close of the winter season. As all Twelfth Night celebrations must, there will be games, singing, story telling and, of course, for the children. In addition to some fighting fun for the heavy fighter, Terra Sylva will be hosting a Rose Tournament for the Duelists. A Lord and Lady of Misrule will be found amongst the populace to help guide and encourage the fun. Although the Baronial Arts & Sciences Champion will have been newly chosen, Baroness Bianca continues to encourage all artisans to come share their works at an Arts & Sciences display.

Welcome to Rome, 1497. As you admire the wondrous art and high culture of this, the finest of cities, be sure to watch your back. Intrigue is at its height as noble families vie for prominence. Even the mightiest houses are rocked with scandal. Lucrezia Borgia has accused her husband, Giovanni Sforza, of impotence and is filing for a divorce. In retaliation, Giovanni claims that his young bride has indulged in incestuous affairs with both her brother and her father! But beware of whom you share gossip with. Spies are everywhere in the courts, and the assassin's blade is ever ready to avenge a perceived slight.
