Come one, come all ! Jean Duke of Berry has announced the commission of another Book of Hours for use at his ducal court. The famous Limbourg Brothers are looking for illuminators, calligraphers and bookbinders to add to their workshop. This is your chance ! Compete for a place in the workshop of the Limbourg Brothers and enjoy the splendor of a Burgundian Court learning more about the fine arts of calligraphy, illumination, bookbinding, heraldry and much more in many fun filled classes as well as plenty of youth activities.

Scriptorium 2006 also sees the premiere of the “Golden Quill” Competition – a chance for all illuminators and calligraphers of the realm and beyond to compete in the creation of a scroll with magnificent prizes for the first three !

Period Pewter Collection to be Auctioned

The pewter collection of the late Stanley Shemmell, including objects of Roman origin and vessels from the Spanish Armada, will go on sale at Bonham's auction house on October 26. The items in the collection represent over a thousand years in the history of pewter-making.
