Gleann Abhann First Coronation

Come join the Good Gentles of Gleann Abhann as We make History! A Celebration for the Ages of the Known World! Unbelted Champions Tourney with Ladies Gallery, Queen's Rapier Champion Tournament, Children's Activities, Arts and Sciences Display to show the skills of Gleann Abhann and much more as We celebrate the Coronation of Radu and Broinnfinn, First Crown of Gleann Abhann.

Baronial Archery Champion Tourney

The Barony of Stonemarche would like to invite one and all to the Incipient College of St. Cuthbert (University of New Hampshire) for a day of archery, fighting and general enjoyment. This year St. Cuthbert's will be hosting the Baronial Archery Tournament to choose new Champions for their Excellencies, Baron Juan Lazaro Ramirez Xavier and Baronessa Signora Maria Pagani. There will also be a competition to determine our new Baronial Youth Archer.

Armour Research Society Conference

The Armour Research Society will be having its annual conference in Chicago. This year we are flying in some of the biggest names in the field of arms and armour from all over the world to be our speakers. These are the guys who wrote the book on the topic (I mean that literally.) Included in this illustrious group will be.

Summer's Last Stand

The Stronghold of Nebelwald invites you to join us as we prepare to celebrate Allerheilgen and initiate our own method of determining how long winter will last. This seasonally-themed event should find something for everyone--use your wits, might, and/or creativity to earn points for your season. Participants should come prepared to enter the Mythical Quest, fight in a variety of seasonally-themed tournaments, enter the Bardic Competition, display A&S project, and enjoy the revelry at the Masked Feast! Plans are still in the works but more detailed information can be found on the Activities page as it becomes available.

Tasmanians Learn of SCA at Tulip Festival

Members of the The Barony of Ynys Fawr and the University of Tasmania Medieval Society took part in the annual Tulip Festival at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens October 2, 2005. The event was covered by the Sunday Tasmanian.

Medieval African Manuscripts on Display

A collection of 16 manuscripts from medieval Timbuktu will go on display in Johannesburg, South Africa this month for the first time. The works are part of a 30,000 manuscript discovery from the city which was founded in the year 1100.

Mary Rose Figurehead Found

Alex Hildred, Excavation Director for the Mary Rose project, believes that they may have discovered the tudor rose figurehead for the ship. The paddle-shaped, decorative piece of oak was uncovered recently in a planned attempt to raise one of the ship's main beams.

Homer's Ithaca Found?

British amateur archaeologist Robert Bittlestone believes he has found the location of Odysseus' fabled Ithaca as part of the Greek island of Cephalonia.

Trimaris Fighters Featured in Article

Interviews with members of the Shire of Vaca del Mar were featured recently in an article in the Orlando Sentinel. The group was holding fighter practice at Tuscawilla Park when reporter Erin Ailworth and a staff photographer visited.

One of Europe's best-known and most popular medieval groups (they had a Top 20 album in Germany last month), Corvus Corax, will make their US debut at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for two weeks in mid-October.

Their Majesties Robin and Isabeau of the Kingdom of AEthelmearc have announced the combatants for the upcoming Kingdom Crown Tournament.

Gleann Abhann Coronation Rescheduled

Master Stephan of Durham, the Seneschal of Gleann Abhann, says that the new Kingdom's first Coronation has been rescheduled for November 5, 2005 at a site in Louisiana. The milestone event had been postponed indefinitely due to the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.

Sorrow in Ansteorra as Lazarus of the Steppes passes on

Lord Lazarus Dragonrider has passed away in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. A friend, Lord Robin of Gilwell, offers his tribute to Lazarus.

New exhibit at the Getty on Titian and Alfonso d'Avalos

"Titian and the Commander: A Renaissance Artist and His Patron" will be on display at the Getty, in Los Angeles, through February 5.

Duke Fabian Victorious in West Kingdom Crown Tourney

Catherine Lorraine reports that Duke Fabian Arnett von Schwetzingen was the winner of the recent West Kingdom Crown Tournament. He was inspired by Eliška z Jihlavy.
