A musical Mabinogion?

In an interview for The Boston Globe, Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel mentions, "When I was doing 'Sweeney Todd,' I talked with Stephen Sondheim, who is interested in developing something based on 'The Mabinogion,' medieval stories from Wales."
